
As previously reported, at approximately 9:46 a.m. on October 13, 2020, Lawrence Police responded to an armed robbery in progress at a Multi-Service Store at 349 Lawrence Street. During the incident, a single shot was fired, and a male clerk suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was treated on scene by paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians from Lawrence General Hospital. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to that facility and later transferred to a Boston hospital.
Following a lengthy investigation conducted by the Lawrence Police Detectives Division with the assistant of the Fall River Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit (Fall River), as well as the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Section, two suspects have been arrested. As a result of a lengthy investigation Detectives were led to Fall River address, where on October 15th, a search warrant was executed. While at that location, the first of two suspects was taken into custody without incident. The second suspect recently turned himself in at the Lawrence Police Department.
Maximo Valentin, age 37, of Fall River was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Firearm Use in a Felony, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within 500’ of a Building, and Armed Robbery. He was arraigned in Fall River District Court.
Kevin Barrera, age 27, of Pawtucket, RI was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Firearm Use in a Felony, Carrying in a Loaded Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within 500’ of a Building, and Armed Robbery. He was arraigned in Lawrence District Court.

Through this joint effort these dangerous individuals were brought to justice.
