Members of the Lawrence Police Patrol Division responded to the area of Clifton and Andover Streets for a disturbance. The Lawrence Police Dispatch Center received several calls for reports of several individuals fighting in that area. While several Patrol Units approached the area, the group began to disperse in multiple directions. Officers Francisco Tineo and Lisette Castillo encountered one of the individuals attempting to flee the area at the intersection of Clifton and Bowdoin Streets. Upon searching the individual, Officer Tineo located a loaded firearm in the individuals coat pocket. Sergeant Ariel Montas arrived on scene and demanded that the individual produce a license to carry a firearm, to which the individual responded that he “did not have one.”
Jochy Toribio, age 22, of Lawrence was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm as well as carrying a firearm without a license. He was arraigned Friday in Lawrence District Court.
