Today Mayor Dan Rivera was joined by Chief Roy Vasque, Lt Maurice Aguilar, and Police Community Relations Director Sandy Almonte, as well as representatives from Delamano Inc. and YWCA for today’s press conference highlighting the ongoing Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign. The campaign is meant to bring awareness to the ongoing crisis and bring victims together with the resources which are available through nonprofit organizations.
As part of this effort the Department has rolled out the fourth of its “Awareness Cruisers” by rolling out its Domestic Violence Awareness Cruiser. The cruiser which is a 16 years old former patrol vehicle that was slated for destruction and was refurbished through private donations. It is our hope that the Domestic Violence Cruiser leads not only to awareness by is used as a conversation piece to discuss this very serious issue, in the hope that we can have a greater impact on reducing domestic violence.
