Early this morning, Lawrence Police Officers Leo Silvera,
Edward Mejia, Eric Cerullo, and Keith Salach responded to a Walnut Street
address for a fight. Upon arrival,
Officer Silvera reported that shots were being fired directly behind him, and a
vehicle was fleeing the scene. Officer
Silvera believed the shots came from the fleeing vehicle, and initiated a motor
vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended as
the suspect motor vehicle struck a parked vehicle. Both
the driver and an occupant fled on foot, and were apprehended following a foot
pursuit.
One firearm was recovered in the vehicle, and a second firearm was recovered in the possession of the vehicle’s occupant Levi Cruzetta age 24 of Methuen. Both Cruzetta and the driver of the vehicle, David Crespo age 32 of Lawrence, were charged with several firearms related charges and resisting arrest. Additionally, Crespo was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless operation, and Cruzetta was charged with assault and battery on a police officer and possession of narcotics. Shell casings were recovered in the location where Officer Silvera heard the shots fired.
